A valance may look like just a simple window decoration, but actually valances serve several important functions. They block out sun and keep your home cooler than it was before. They also dampen noise.
If you’re in the market for a new valance, you may want to consider this one from Victor Mill. The nautical design isn’t for everyone, but if you already have an ocean themed room in your house it’ll fit perfectly.
One thing we loved about this valance is its curved shape. Too many straight lines can make a room feel stiff and uncomfortable.
Pleasant nautical pattern — The design features fish, seaweed, starfish and more.
Covers up unsightly screws and metal — If you can see the hardware around your window, a valance like this one can help improve its look.
100% cotton — Some synthetic fabrics smell funny, but cotton smells great– especially after a wash. Plus, cotton is durable and retains its shape well over time.
Made in the USA — This valance was stitched together in the United States.
Curved design — Interior design pros say that curved lines express the ideas of flexibility, softness and grace. This valance will help you add some variety to a room that has too many harsh, straight surfaces.
This valance is made out of thin yet durable cotton fabric. It’s light colored, so it reflects incoming sunlight and helps you save money on your utility bill. It also looks nice and covers up unappealing window hardware.
The nautical design is nice, but it doesn’t go with everything.
Best Suited For
Rooms with pastel colors.
Not So Good For
This valance would not look good in a room that features many dark colors.
If you like this valance’s “under the sea” theme and you have some window hardware that you need to conceal, this product is worth a hard look. It’s made from soft, durable cotton, not stinky man-made fabrics. Also, the bottom of the valance is curvy. Most rooms overdo horizontal and vertical lines. The only bad thing about this valance is that it isn’t very versatile. The Island Breeze style only matches certain types of room setups.
